What's New?I was asked to re-post my poem that was on here over a year ago. Here it is:
As We Age Together One day all my hair will turn gray and fall out And I’ll lose my hearing and you’ll have to shout It’ll take 40 minutes to go use the head I’ll keep my teeth in a cup by the side of the bed With a cane in my left hand, your hand in my right I’ll look like great granddad, oh what a sight. My vision will falter, I won’t see too well And I’ll lose my senses of taste and of smell My memory’s failing, my thinking is slow And I lose directions on trips when I go My bottom’s enlarging, my gut’s getting fat Not sure where I’m going, don’t know where I’m at My shoulders are hunched so I can’t stand up straight When I try to do sit ups I don’t do so great My chest it has fallen, my stomach just grows Like the hair in my ears and the hair in my nose I’m too tired to get up and shuffle along I’m too pooped to pop and I sleep all day long I drool from my mouth and I drip from my nose My joints don’t work nice so I can’t touch my toes Life’s not so easy, it’s often quite rough But we’re gonna make it, ‘cause we’re both so tough If you don't mind this picture then come right on in, We’ll be old farts together through thick and through thin. |
MarathoningHere I am right after the 2009 Boston Marathon, where I finished my quest to complete a marathon in each state. I loved it so much that I ran it again in 2010.
On, 10/13/13, I ran the Chicago Marathon, which completes, not only 100 marathons, but also my second completion of the 50 states. Not bad for a fat old man! Random ThoughtsIt seems to me that we have become a less civil nation. Political disagreement is dealt with using insults rather than discussing positions.
Also, why can't we distinguish between wants and needs in this country? It's time to grow up people! Rant over. |
